Addressing the All Pakistan Ijtema-e-Aam of JI at Minar-e-Pakistan on Saturday, Hasan said that military operations create more problems by setting off chain reactions rather than bringing peace in the country.
“Neither the military operation in Swat nor the ongoing war in South Waziristan by the Pakistan army is solving any problems faced by the country. A large number of people are suffering and have become displaced persons in their own country.”
He further expressed the desire to join hands with the Tebleeghi Jamat to bring change in the society. He said that both religious parties were struggling for the common good and for the formation of a just, Islamic society in Pakistan.
“JI and Tableeghi Jamat have similarities in their beliefs and teachings, and both are struggling to free the people from the slavery of other human beings [as well as] bringing Islamic rule of law in the country,” he said.
The former JI chief said Tablgheei Jamat concentrates on the moral character of a person, and tries to make common people better Muslims while JI had the same goal -- but it was also struggling to reform the society through a democratic struggle.
Hasan further called for the waging a ‘jihad’ to eliminate oppression in the Pakistani society along with a democratic struggle, adding that ‘jihad’ was a fundamental principle of Islam and has nothing to do with terrorism and militancy.
“Due to the propaganda against ‘jihad’, people are now even ashamed of using this word as Jihad has been maligned as terrorism.”

You had your chance. Now let army do its job.
The JI demeans the words of "peaceful co-existence." WHAT POSITIVES HAVE COME FROM THIS PARTY SINCE INDEPENDENCE, WHEN THEY UNFORTUNATELY, CAME TO PAKISTAN? Nothing other than sectarian riots, killings, and schisms. Salams
Ex-JI chief is speaking IK's lingo. Again these right-wing parties playing the old tape for their Muslim Brothers. When there was no army action thousands of Pakistanis were bombed, killed, maimed, kidnapped and beheaded. After the army action these coward terrorists had to run or killed and the Pakistanis are much safer after the army action than before. PTI and their coalition partners should be ashamed of being in bed wit the worst terrorists and enemies of Pakistani civilians and foot soldiers.
Bangladesh knows how to deal with JI....
If the Tablighi Jamaat gets involved with JI politics then that makes the Tablighis political
Why even give coverage to this has-been? People like Munawwar have always supported extremists and the very wrong version of Jihad he speaks of. He has lost his mind and was unnecessarily exposing the inner philosophy of the JI hence was removed. The Army must know that the masses support Zarb e Azb. Security every society's basic right.
If military operation is not a solution then do these pundits have any alternate that they can put on the table.
These folks were against creation pf Pakistan and have never done anything which could have strengthened Pakistan either. They live and breathe in Pakistan and at the same time always cursing the system.
Munawar Hasan was always a loose canon........he does the JI more harm than good.
Our people are confused and will always be like that. Our masses are told that beyond Pakistan no morality exists, Without Pakistan Religion will be in danger and the doors to question anything are absolutely closed. Now JI and Imran Khan are confusing everyone that Military Operation is not the solution but we can see that Terrorism rate is going down since the inception of Military Operations.
Oh really? Does he not see the terrorism and violence before the operation, and the steep decline in those since the operation?
