Pakistan cueist records third straight win at snooker event in India

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Muhammad Sajjad maintained his winning streak at the IBSF World Championship on Saturday, bagging his third win of the competition as he defeated Sri Lanka’s Muhammad Muneeb Mansoor 4-1 in Bangalore, India.

It was a hard fought win for Sajjad, as Muneer refused to concede without resistance and three out of the five frames were closely contested. However, Sajjad eventually won with scores of 72-52, 71-46, 78-03 (74), 73-80 and 92-21.

Hamza Abkar also continued his recovery in the event after an opening loss as he pipped Russia’s Ivan Kakovsky 4-2.

Kakovsky was out of the blocks quicker, winning the first two frames to go 2-0 up. But Hamza managed to stage an impressive comeback and emerged victorious with a scoreline of 29-74, 29-65, 60-12 ,61-12, 55-47 and 72-0 (56).

Meanwhile, Asif Toba succumbed to his first defeat in the event, going down 4-2 at the hands of South African Fakhrie Gierdine with scores of 67-46, 91-23, 35-104, 44-64, 70-63 and 52-41.
