All citizens welcome : Police hold open courts at mosques

LAHORE: Senior police officers heard complaints of more than 2,900 people in open courts held at mosques across the city on Friday. The operations DIG had directed all police officers to hold open courts at mosques in their areas. Islampura circle DSP Shamsul Haq held an open court at Jamia Masjid Faizul Islam in New Anarkali; Race Course DSP Safdar Raza Kazmi held an open court at Jamia Ibrahim; Manawan DSP Muhammad Nadeem Butt held a court at Jamia Ali-al-Murtaza, Gulshan-i-Ravi DSP Rana Ghulam Abbas held a court at the Ek Minar Wali Masjid, Bund Road; and Muslim Town DSP Imran Abbas held a court at Jamia Muslim Town Central Colony. The DSPs issued several directions during the ‘proceedings’. The courts are open for all citizens. People can file applications directly to senior police officers.  Operations DIG Haider Ashraf said he was monitoring the open courts and had directed all SPs to send him reports on cases that were brought up in the courts. “This is a top priority for us,” he said. All police officers have to deal with people in a gentle and polite manner, “otherwise we will take strict action against them.
