ISLAMABAD: While the Prime Minister’s Office has received Minister for Science and Technology Zahaid Hamid’s resignation, it has not been yet accepted by the prime minister, the premier’s spokesperson Dr Musaddik Malik said on Friday evening.

Malik, during a press briefing, said that the government’s legal team is waiting for the detail judgment of the special court and any decision regarding Hamid’s resignation will be taken keeping in view the court’s verdict.

A special court in Islamabad hearing the high treason case partially accepted former president Pervez Musharraf’s plea to include Hamid, among others, in the treason trial investigations.

During his briefing on Friday evening, Malik emphasized that the government believes in separation of powers between judiciary and executive and hopes that others would follow suit of respecting the rule of law.

“If we have to follow Constitution and rule of law we will have to admit and ensure separation of powers between judiciary and executive,” he added.

The premier’s spokesperson further added, “It is heart wrenching for government when it has remove someone from any position or change their portfolio and if they managed to obtain stay order or succeeded in regaining their position from the judiciary.”

Citing the example of Maryam Nawaz’s removal as Chairperson of the youth loan scheme, Malik said that once Lahore High Court indicated that it did not want her to continue as head of youth scheme, the government asked her to tender her resignation even before the court passed a judgment.

Commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) rally scheduled to be held in November 30 in Islamabad, Malik said that it was up to PTI’s leadership. He said that if PTI workers remain peaceful, then the government will do nothing. But if they try to take the law in to their own hands then, Malik warned, the law will take its course.

Claiming that government had neither stopped PTI’s rallies, sit ins in Islamabad nor used excessive force against them over the past three months, Malik said that the government has decided that this time it will not tolerate any unlawful activity of PTI.

He alleged that PTI and PAT were responsible for the deaths of children who missed vaccination for 14 days with sit-ins across the country.

Commenting on Nawaz’s recent visit to Germany and UK, Malik said that government is willing to reach similar agreements with Europe which it had recently signed with China.

He said that according to the agreements, Chinese banks will give loans to the Chinese companies and other interested parties who wish to invest in Pakistan. He added that Pakistan is willing to reach an agreement with Europe where European investors can invest in Pakistan with EU support.

Obviously the Hon Court found sufficient evidence for his indictment as such it is imperative that he be removed from the federal cabinet.

@Hobi Haripur wala: Wake up, man. It is time to stop dreaming and abusing every one without a shred of evidence. You seem to have learnt well from your guru.
