Measles outbreak: One child dies in Landikotal, Khyber Agency

LANDIKOTAL: A child died on Thursday after suffering from measles in the Pasidkhel area of Landikotal, Khyber Agency. This case brings the total number of deaths from measles in the area to three – in one week.

An official of the Extended Program for Immunisation (EPI) Nasib Khan said that measles had spread in the area over the last few days.

Khan said three children; Qadam, Gul Panra and Fawad had died so far due to the epidemic in the Pasidkhel area.

Assistant Political Agent Tayyab Abdullah visited the affected areas on Thursday, and announced compensation for the bereaved families of the deceased children.

Abdullah, while talking to the media, said teams have been formed to take steps and launch a campaign against measles in the area.

He added that the government would treat patients affected by measles in the area for free.
