Hamza Akbar loses his first match

Cueist beaten 4-3 by Thai opponent in IBSF world event

KARACHI: Pakistan’s IBSF World Championship campaign started on a disappointing note yesterday with young cueist Hamza Akbar going down 4-3 against Thailand’s Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn in their Group C match in Bangalore, India.

Hamza lost the first frame by just four points and then also conceded the second to give Kritsanut a 2-0 lead.

However, the young prodigy gave away only one point in the next frame while accumulating 75 to make it 2-1 and come back into the match.

Kritsanut then restored his two-frame cushion in the following frame to lead the match 3-1. Continuing with the see-saw nature of the encounter, Hamza won the next two frames to draw level at 3-3.

However, it was Kritsanut who won the decider and the match with scores of 59-55, 56-36, 1-75, 58-10, 4-60, 30-61 and 67-40.
