KARACHI: Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durani announced on Monday the constitution of a parliamentary committee to monitor the Thar situation after Pakistan Muslim League - Functional MPA Imtiaz Shaikh moved an adjournment motion to discuss Thar. "This issue has already been discussed at length a few days ago when opposition leader Shaharyar Mahar moved a resolution on it. Therefore, the discussion cannot be initiated on adjournment," said parliamentary affairs minister Dr Sikandar Mandhro. Shaikh, however, said that the government had yet to implement the resolution, which demanded a parliamentary committee of members of all parties. This prompted Durrani to announce the committee, whose members will be nominated soon.
