Rangers arrest two suspected target killers from Lyari
KARACHI:
A religious seminary administrator was killed by unknown armed assailants in Manghopir area of Karachi on Monday.
Shafiullah, 35, son of Muhammad Zaman Khan, was an administrator at a religious seminary in Kunwari Colony.
According to the Pirabad police, the incident took place when Shafiullah was collecting donations outside the seminary when unidentified armed motorcyclists shot at him multiple times, killing him on the spot
Shafiullah’s body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
While no case has been registered by police yet, SHO Nasir Mehmood said that they wre collecting more information about the incident, adding that a motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
Two suspected target killers arrested
Separately, two suspected target killers were arrested during a targeted raid conducted by Rangers.
The arrests were made following a raid by Rangers on gangsters’ den in Rangiwara area of Lyari.
The identities of the suspects have not been disclosed but a Rangers spokesperson claimed that the suspects belong to a Lyari gang.
The official added that they had recovered hand grenade, sub machinegun (SMG), repeater and a 9mm pistol during the raid.
The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.
Separately, Lyari police claimed to have apprehended a suspect, Waseem alias Shughal, following an encounter in Kalri area of Lyari.
SHO Naeem Khan said that the arrested suspect belonged to Sheraz Comrade group of Lyari.
Khan added that during initial investigations, the suspect had disclosed his alleged involvement in three murders. Further investigation is underway.
