ISLAMABAD:

A woman filed an application in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) alleging that a National Accountability Bureau (NAB)investigation officer (IO) had picked up her husband from a local market in Islamabad.

In her petition, Nabeela Tahir sought legal action against IO Mohammad Tariq, accusing him of “kidnapping her husband”, Tahir Mehmood Abbasi, a local trader.

According to the petitioner, she was with her husband and daughter near Jinnah Super Market when 12 people showed up in a Toyota van and intercepted them. She said that they picked up her husband without identifying themselves.

The petitioner said that when she and her daughter tried to intervene, they allegedly manhandled them. The petitioner said that they have also lodged an FIR with the Kohsar police.

The petitioner added that on November 13, Tariq called and told the family that Abbasi was in NAB custody in a fraud case. The petitioner prayed the court to declare the detention of her husband illegal and direct the Kohsar police to arrest Tariq. The court will take up the case on Tuesday.
