Clearing away: Anti-encroachment drive in Mirpur

MIRPUR: Authorities have announced to start a campaign against encroachments in Mirpur district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Officials say in the first leg of the drive, the authorities will take the land of irrigation department back from illegal occupation of the land mafia. A meeting of the divisional authorities also decided to remove all encroachments at either side of the canals passing through Chachian, Jatlan, Pindi Saberwaal. The land was meant for the green belt and the road. Officials said removal of encroachments was necessary before widening the roads along the canals.
