He could've worked to better the system by removing corrupt and the rotten. But that's an academic discussion now
PESHAWAR: This is in response to Muhammad Ali Ehsan’s article published on November 14 titled “Meeting General Musharraf”. Mr Ehsan’s article is very interesting, especially the points he makes about the three things General Musharraf says he should not have done while he was at the helm of affairs.
But of course, every one of us has his own idea on the subject. In my view, the former president’s greatest follies were removing General Amjad as the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau, falling into the hands of the Chaudhrys of Gujrat and the referendum he carried out. If only he had said his goodbyes after the mandated initial three years instead of tinkering with a tested system, it would have been much better for Pakistan. He could have worked on trying to better the system by removing the corrupt and the rotten. But then, all of that is an academic discussion now. That said, I still think he did a lot for us.
