Pakistan successfully test-fires Hatf-IV ballistic missile
The successful launch was aimed at re-validating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system. Shaheen1A Missile is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 900 kilometres.
Today’s launch, with impact point in Arabian Sea, was witnessed by the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, Lieutenant General Obaid Ullah Khan,Vice Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi, Commander Pakistan Fleet, Chairman NESCOM, Mr Muhammad Irfan Burney, senior officers from the strategic forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organisations.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, congratulated the scientists and engineers for their dedication, professionalism and commitment towards achieving Pakistan's Full Spectrum Credible Minimum Deterrence Capability.
Shaheen-1A with its highly accurate and indigenously developed guidance system is amongst the most accurate Missile System.
He reiterated Pakistan’s desire for peaceful co-existence in the region and appreciated the professional attributes of all concerned towards accomplishment of the sacred mission. He showed his full confidence over the Pakistan Armed Forces’ capability to safeguard security of the Mother Land against any aggression.
The successful test launch has also been warmly appreciated by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan who congratulated the participating troops, the scientists and engineers on their outstanding achievement.

@Mirza: Mirza Sahab what are we all doing for Thari Children ??? It is not our social and religious responsibility to do something ??? Only criticize and feel happy ???: minimum deterrence is priority of Pakistan to safeguard our national interests and our defense managers are doing very good job in critical situation. But the situation in Tharparkar is very shameful for our Economic Managers, specially Sindh Government and our All Political Parties they are spending millions of rupees for political achievements
These missiles would eliminate the poverty and hunger from Pakistan particularly from Thar.

I dont know why Express tribune accept such comments that are far from reality and such accounts are definitely operated by Indian agents who are working round the clock to comment on all Pakistani news channels. Be it Dawn, Express tribune, Herald or any other we find so many trolls. The first comment by a username dude is a sabotage comment only to discredit Pakistan and our so called free speech experts approve such comments. On the other hand most of the comments of Pakistanis are rejected.
@dude I dont know why ET have approved your comment as it is based on pure lies and it is far from reality. Shaheen series have three missile systems. 1, 1-A , 11 and 111 ( In Development phase). Shaheen 11 have a range of more than 2500 Kilometer while Shaheen 3 will cross 3000 Kilometer mark. Shaheen 1-A is an improvement to the existing 1 series.
Pakistan have basically three range of ballistic missiles. One is SRBM ( Short range ballistic ), MRBM ( Shaheed 11, Ghauri-11) and LRBM ( Long range) ( Shaheen 111 will be included in it) . Shaheen 1 is always categorized in SRBM series so i dont know what you are talking about. ?
While reading this news, I was wondering how can this information piece go smoothly without the mention of our RESPECTED NAWAZ OR ANYONE FROM THEIR FAMILY. They have an OPINION on everything..required or not required.
Agreed: their are children dying in Thar. 3 days old, 7 days old, 3 months old..Will this "achievement" ever reach them? The one's alive will never know what missile is...do they care? Should we care? They are fighting hunger..thirst..Rather than spending on "jet fuel", if some honest ruling politician could buy water or milk and transport it to the homes of those dying children..

Congrats Pakistan... However I am still searching for all those Pakistani commentators who talk about solving poverty and hunger before launching space missions. Trying to know what their opinion is on spending on weapons instead of combating poverty.

@dude i think as naval chief was there its a sea based surface to surface missile i THINK! Its capable to be launched from ships/submarines. Its for sea based launch in conventional/unconventional warheads. Thats why the Naval hierarchy was there, must have been that! Its my judgmental analysis!

Test firing an already test fired missile in response to India. Well good for Pakistan if it thinks that India will attack one day. Paranoid much? Or preparing to attack? Since history tells who has been agressor in wars, India has a reason to test. Pakistan seeks attention. I hope the government can hold on their breath and don't commit a blunder. Because now in the age of satellite televisions surrenders are much more embarrasing. I pray for healthy future for both countries.

@dude: The most authoritative non-governmental assessment of world nuclear forces has revealed that India's nuclear capabilities are seriously lagging behind those of its putative adversaries, Pakistan and China. and that is what i can see here as well.

Now people who are just coming to comment about spending money on the education or hospitals rather than the safety or the security, are requested to first get updated about whats going on in the neighbouring countries and what are the developments in this sector, you will come to realize that thats the requirement and need as per the current circumstances. You all are educated, but what will you do once attacked by the enemy? what maximum you can do, is to come on some news website or facebook page and debate on the basis of your education or information but on whom you will depend? you will depend on your powerful armed forces. Education is must and has its own budget. Rather than distributing laptops, our govt. should initiate a program of free education for poor in every city or district.

when they tested shaheen 1A first time, its range was 4500 km, after a month, it reduced to 3000 km, then 2000 km, then 1500 km, then 1000 km. actual range is 700-900 km.
