Army chief General Raheel Sharif arrived in the United Sates on Sunday for a seven-day visit, according to Radio Pakistan.

General Raheel, who is scheduled to meet representatives from the Department of Defense, US Administration and Congress, will visit the US Central Command (CENTCOM) Headquarters in Tampa, Florida, today.

According to an official source, the army chief will hold a meeting with CENTCOM Chief General Lloyd Austin.

Officials said the army chief’as meetings with his american counterparts will provide an opportunity to enhance bilateral military-to-military cooperation.

The visit, Gen Raheel’s first to the country since taking over as army chief, comes at a time when there is a greater convergence on views between Islamabad and Washington.

According to a report by The Washington Post, Gen Raheel is likely to be greeted with much more optimism and trust and ‘far less skepticism’ than his predecessor, Gen (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

It quoted US officials as saying that Pakistan Army’s operation against militants in North Waziristan has “boosted their confidence in Islamabad’s commitment to combating terrorist groups operating within its borders.”

The COAS will be placed under the command of General Austin, to whom he will report during his tenure!

This is the man we have been looking for four decades to end the menace. Since he is a fair man he is definitely going to win great favor from outside world.
I firmly believe he is the man who will tear apart all those rouge elements who have torn apart social fabrics of this country. His actions speak louder than words. His decisive crack down on terrorist infrastructure which started in the beginning of his tenure made my sleeps comfortable and I was convinced that terrorist apologist would meet with same fate as both are two sided of the same coin.Raheel Sharerf is a great soldier and living hero.

It would be great if PTI can ask for the expenses incurred on this trip as well. They probably won’t because they have been begging the third umpire to step in for some time.

General Raheel Sharif shall also take into confidence and also shall try his best and utmost to convince and satisfy the US’ officials regarding in-process Zarb-e-Azb operation in North Waziristan Agency so that US’ aid could continue without any hindrances and interruptions and coalition support fund could be released and in the other words another beggar and slave on the mission to rejoice and satisfy his worldly master USA…..

@Aschraful Makhlooq: Don’t you worry about that. There are always some pessimists even in the most optimistic situation.
