The recent deaths have taken the toll for last 47 days to 70.
A seven-day-old infant, Mumtaz son of Gul Muhammad, died in a private hospital in Islamkot Tehsil and a six-month-old died in Civil hospital of Mithi. While a four-year-old also passed away in Hyderabad hospital where he was shifted for medical treatment.
With no signs of abating, the ongoing drought has claimed around 500 lives in three years.
Recently on November 14, the Sindh High Court had directed the provincial government to submit a report on deaths in drought-hit Tharparkar by November 25.
Earlier this month, the provincial government had also appealed to foreign donors to help mitigate the drought situation.

Shame on the Sindh government. Look after those who voted for you, not only the poor of Tharparkar, but in Sindh at large. Each death from starvation is unforgivable, absolutely unforgivable. Please have some empathy for the suffering of these poor people. Visits of motorcades, photocalls at hospitals, banquets before returning to Karachi no longer work. Shameful beyond all limits...
@Jibran: A six month old may need nothing but the mother’s milk. But do you even know that producing 1oz of breast milk requires to burn about 26 calories? Which means a nursing mother needs about 650 calories above her usual requirements to produce about 25 ounces of milk per day! What are you feeding the mothers there? Get your facts right and then comment.
@Frank Go Nawaz GO!! And take Zardari with you !! is logically incomplete Qaim Ali Shah and S Memon should also be the equal contributor from SINDH. In the Desert of Thar "Kal Bhi Bhutto Zinda Tha Aur aaj bhi uski nasalain Zinda Hain"
we desperately need a metro at Karachi and islamabad, also a bullet train, else we will die,too..help please
Sorry for precious lives being lost it is the duty of the Govt to rise to the occassion to help these people and the WHO should also come forward.
A six month old needs nothing but the mother's milk. His death has nothing to do with drought. Do we have autopsies in all of these cases to determine the cause of death? I don't know what Samar Mubarakmand had been door in Thar under the guise of mining coal.
@Jat:
"This is Pakistani solution to reduce poverty. How can anyone call Pakistan poor, when there are no poor remaining ?"
No.
This is Pakistan's alternative solution to reduce minority.
Most dying in Thar are poor Hindus.
@Sunil: Try and understand that the people never voted for these leaders.......their vote is controlled by the ' mukhi ' of the community ( why ? ...is a long story ) and the mukhi is in the pocket of the political party ( why ?.......is another long story ).
BY 2022 whole Pakistan is going to be like that.
Sorry. I have no sympathy for the people of Sindh. They got what they voted for.
The people of Sindh are lucky to have PPP government. I hope they will vote for Bilawal Zardari next time too.
Jiye Bhutto!
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari you can run to the UK........but can't hide forever. This is your first test as a leader......and you have failed miserably.....children are dying under your stewardship ( actually your fathers ).
Jiye butto
Go, Nawaz, go! And take Zardari with you!
Criminal negligence.... we have these people ruling the country giving lectures on democracy and the fruits - yet we have people dying of hunger because of drought and not the slightest of concern and owning of the responbility.
This is Pakistani solution to reduce poverty. How can anyone call Pakistan poor, when there are no poor remaining ?
where is imran khan with his millions of followers? where is nawaz sharif with all his federal govt resources? where is bilawal with his provincial government? where is army with all its might?
