Several police officials on Friday held open courts across the city following a directive by Operations DIG Haider Ashraf.
The officials held the courts at central mosques in their jurisdictions and entertained over 2,850 applicants, a statement issued on Friday said. People can approach senior officials directly in these courts if they have not been entertained at police stations.
The Cantt SP held an open court at the Jamia Masjid Zia Rehmat in Lidhar Pind, the Shafiqabad Circle DSP Arshad Hayat at Jamia Masjid Abu Bakr on Bund Road, the Lower Mall DSP Naveed Shah at Jamia Masjid Laal on Shah Jehan Road, the Mughalpura DSP Abdul Qayyum at Jamia Masjid Tufail College Road, the Garden Town DSP Mir Kashif Khalil at Jamia Masjid Al-Mustajab and the Iqbal Town Circle DSP Khalid Mehmood Khan at Jamia Masjid Baitul Noor. SP Nadeem and DSPs Hayat, Irshad, Qayyum, Khalil and Khan issued on the spot directions after hearing applications.
DIG Ashraf says he has been personally monitoring the courts and has instructed officials to submit regular reports after addressing grievances there.
He said the police were striving to address the problems of the people by holding the courts. DIG Ashraf also directed officials to behave in a befitting manner.
He said strict action would be taken against those found guilty of being rude to the people.
