Misbah has a quiet demeanour, a calm temperament and a never-say-die attitude that have served him well. The one criticism that can be levelled against him is that the team’s exploits under him outside the favourable environs of the UAE leave a lot to be desired. However, he has led Pakistan admirably during some incredibly tough times. Misbah now must have the World Cup in his sights and Pakistan’s performance at the mega event might decide his future in the game. At 40 years of age, he does not have a long road to travel and might never get the opportunity of testing his leadership skills in England, Australia or India in Test matches. But he is set to leave behind a legacy of his own. He has often been the target of harsh criticism, sometimes unfairly. It is time now for his critics to finally acknowledge his achievements and give him the recognition he deserves.

Agree with the header. It is strange that the country is even having doubts about this. Without a doubt and discussion Misbah is the best all time captain and again with the same qualifications Younis is the best Test batsman to have graced a Paki Shirt. To add to this they are easily the best advertisement for Pakistan as a cricketing country. There is a lot of decency and decorum that accompanies their demeanour and it is really pleasing to the eye, at a time when there is such unnessasary negative aggression. By right Younis should be recalled to the ODI team. Kudos to these Paki Giants.
Misbah has the best win ratio in addition to the most wins and he is still going strong. Not only Misbah's victories have all been outside Pakistan but in the days with neutral, third empires, and electronic ball tracking and review systems. Misbah never had the luxury of playing on the dead wickets of Hyderabad and Faisalabad and with local empires. In Pakistan Miandad was never LBW but outside it was another matter. The best part of Misbah is he has not cultivated his idol but remains humble and polished leader and a role model. He keeps his mouth shut and let the numbers do the talking. Those who want to belittle Misbah cannot deny the numbers!
