Survivors of violence: Victims Support Strategy introduced

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has introduced a Victims Support Strategy (VSS) to guide police departments and support victims and survivors of violence.


Addressing a dialogue session, Home and Tribal Affairs Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah said there are certain segments in society that are vulnerable to violence and steps need to be taken to ensure their protection, read a statement issued by the home department on Thursday.


The statement quoted Shah as saying that women will be engaged in policing which is vital for a vigilant and vibrant society, adding that academics, police, prosecution and civil society have to join hands in order to make K-P a prosperous province.


Shah was talking at a session held at a local hotel with civil society representatives, police officials, government representatives and members of international development agencies in attendance.
