Four Pakistani players enter squash main round

KARACHI: Four out of six Pakistani squash players won their World Open qualifying matches and moved into the main round to join Nasir Iqbal, who had automatically qualified due to his high ranking, in the event being played at the Khalifa International Squash Complex in Doha, Qatar.

Former world number 16 Farhan Mehboob – currently languishing at 111 – beat third seed Chris Gordan 3-0 by scores of 11-8, 15-13 and 11-8.

Meanwhile, Asian Senior Individual Champion Aamir Atlas Khan came back twice from a game down to win 3-2 against England’s Jamie Haycocks with scores of 9-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-3 and 11-9 after a 63-minute battle.

Farhan Zaman thrashed Kuwait’s Badar Ali Hussaini in straight games, winning 11-4, 11-6 and 11-6 in just 21 minutes and Amir’s younger sibling Danish beat compatriot Tayyab Aslam 3-1 with a scoreline of 11-3, 7-11, 11-2 and 11-5.
