PESHAWAR:

Members of the teams tasked to screen patients for Ebola virus often reach BKIA late, as a result of which a number of passengers leave without being screened.

Official sources said the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has provided a special counter for the health department teams. “It is the responsibility of the federal government to keep a close eye on team members provided by the provincial health department,” said an official requesting anonymity. He added it was also the federal government’s responsibility to ensure punctuality.

The official said most of the flights from gulf countries arrive early morning, while the team members arrive at the airport after 7am.

“This is very important. There is a proper health section inside the airport which should ensure the presence of health staffers,” reiterated an official from the provincial health department.
