Bajaur attack: Three killed guarding polio vaccinators

KHAR: Three Levies officials guarding polio vaccinators were killed in a home-made bomb attack in Bajaur Agency on Tuesday.

Three persons – including one political administration and two Levies officials – were also wounded in the attack that happened in the Chargo tehsil of Salarzai subdivision, an official of the local political administration confirmed to The Express Tribune.

He said the Levies officials were escorting polio vaccinators in the area when the vehicle they were travelling in hit an improvised explosive device planted by a roadside. The vehicle was destroyed in the ensuing blast, killing three Levies officials and injuring three persons, including political tehsildar Sahibzada.

The casualties were shifted to the agency headquarters hospital in Khar where MS Muhammad Nazeer identified the dead as Shafiullah, Ubaidullah and Ehsanullah. He added that political tehsildar Sahibzada was airlifted to Peshawar for treatment of his serious wounds.

A political administration official said that security was increased for a three-day polio vaccination campaign in the region.
