Violating laws: Six fuel stations fined

ISLAMABAD: A surprise checking of petrol pumps of the capital was conducted by Assistant Commissioner (Rural) Amna Rafique on Monday. The official imposed fines amounting to Rs71,000 to owners of six fuel stations for overcharging and violating the Minimum Wages Act 1948 and the Shops and Security Ordinance, informed an ICT spokesperson. The official imposed fines on Boston, Petro, Al-Meherban, Rose Garden, Milot and Altra filling stations. According to the spokesperson, owners were paying minimal wages to workers in contravention of the law and fire extinguishing arrangements were also found unsatisfactory at the premises.
