THARPARKAR: With the drought in Tharparkar showing no sign of ending, two more infants lost their lives taking the death toll to 49 in the last 41 days, Express News reported on Monday.

The infants - one just 3-days-old - passed away of malnutrition and thirst in the town of Diplo, Tharparkar.

According to an official list prepared by the district administration, there have been 275 deaths of children due to drought-related illnesses.

Primarily, Sindh and Balochistan have arid-area populations that are at risk of drought, food insecurity and almost invariably, poor general health.

The people of these areas live on the very margins of the possible in terms of human habitation and sustainability.

This is a famine like situation and surprisingly there is not enough action from the government and NGOs.

@Parvez:

All have gone into long slumber, because they have no conscience to face it....or they are not getting any money from international NGO for looking into this issue. Otherwise, they seem to have no value for human lives like most of our political & civil society members...
