KARACHI:

For a long time since her debut, Parineeti Chopra had been referred to as the cousin of the multitalented actor and singer Priyanka Chopra. But the actor has come to her own with riveting performances in films like Shuddh Desi Romance, Hasee Toh Phasee and Daawat-e-Ishq.

The actor who will next be seen in the multi-starrer Kill Dil opposite Ranveer Singh, Ali Zafar and Govinda spoke to The Express Tribune about her character in the film, “Kill Dil is a cool, quirky film in which I play the character of Disha; a super-rich girl who falls in love with Ranveer’s character who she literally meets off the streets.”

She further added that unlike her male co-stars in the film she would not be doing any action in the Shaad Ali directed movie, “Let me just clarify this that I won’t be doing any action in the film, that is something that is happening on the other side.”

Parineeti who has mostly portrayed unconventional roles throughout her career,  elaborates on  her decision to play such characters stating that, “I will always play character that will add to the story rather than playing characters which do not have much to them.”

The Ishaqzaade star has done the majority of her films under the Yash Raj Films production banner except for Hasee Toh Phasee, which was jointly produced by Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar.

She terms herself extremely lucky to have been associated with the India’s premier film production company remarking, “It’s an honor to do so many films with Yash Raj Films (YRF). People spend their whole life hoping to do a single YRF film and I am so privileged that I have done five movies with them.”

The actor who won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut last appeared in the moderately successful Daawat-e-Ishq opposite Aditya Roy Kapoor would be sharing screen space with Pakistani actor and singer Ali Zafar for the very first time.

“I absolutely love Ali. He’s such a great guy and is extremely charming. What is so brilliant about him is the positive energy around him. I look forward to working with him again in the future,” exclaimed the 26-year-old actor.

Kill Dil, which is set to release on November 14, is the story of two boys Dev (Ranveer Singh) and Tutu (Ali Zafar), trained to become killers by Bhaiyaji (Govinda). All is well until Dev falls in love with Disha; a relationship which Bhaiyaji doesn’t approve off.

The film has already created a lot of buzz because of its star cast and music, which is composed by the trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
