Authorities struggle to clean up animal remains

Authorities are struggling to clear up animal waste as sacrifices continue on the third day of Eidul Azha.

Government officials across the country had earlier assured that cleanliness in cities would be maintained and remains of sacrificial animals would be properly disposed.

However, the situation on ground seems to tell another story. No special arrangements seem to be in place, despite the relevant staff being on duty.

Animal remains could be spotted lying around in open areas of Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan.

In Rawalpindi and Quetta, however, performance of the local administration has been appreciated in this regard.

Usman Qazi | 14 years ago | Reply The practice of slaughtering animals should be restricted to slaughter houses as is done all over the world. This should solve the problems that we are facing with animal waste thrown indiscriminately in every place imaginable. Though, as a nation we need to change our attitude when it comes to getting rid of trash, as we so conveniently roll down our windows and hurl stuff out even in our cleanest localities.
