MITHI: With no end in sight to the Tharparkar drought, four children died in the district today taking the death toll to 45 in the last 39 days, Express News reported on Saturday.

A six-year-old drought-affected child succumbed to her injuries in a hospital in Hyderabad where she was admitted due to her critical condition.

Another child passed away in the Mithi hospital, while two more children admitted in hospitals in Diplo died due to malnourishment and thirst.

The ongoing drought has claimed up to 470 lives in three years.

The Sindh government has been under strict scrutiny and pressure to take steps towards bringing an end to the drought.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is said to be monitoring the Tharparkar crisis personally.

Cleaning in progress

Workers at Mithi Hospital have been incessantly cleaning the premises after several months sources have said.

Access to the media was forbidden during cleaning for unknown reason.

The three-member committee constituted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif may be conducting an inspection for which preparations are underway, according to sources.
