Targetting peace committee: Twin IED blasts in Mohmand Agency kill 7

PESHAWAR: Seven people died and three others were injured, including Safi peace militia workers, in twin improvised explosive device (IED) attacks in Safi tehsil, Mohmand Agency on Friday evening. 

An official of the upper Mohmand Agency political administration said the first bomb went off near peace committee members in Chinari and the second exploded when the injured were being shifted to a coach, a few paces away.

A close aide of peace committee leader Darya Khan was also injured. The injured were rushed to a hospital in Mamad Ghat.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Jamaatul Ahrar claimed responsibility of the attack in a statement issued to the media.

PM Nawaz condemns

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the terrorist attack in Mohmand agency, and expressed his sorrow and grief over the loss of life incident.

"We will eliminate terrorism from Pakistan, and no distinction will be made against any out fit" he said in a statement.
