Promoting agriculture: Minister promises subsidy of Rs14b

Agriculture Minister Punjab Dr Farrukh Javed said the government is taking every possible step for the promotion of agriculture and a subsidy of Rs14 billion would be disbursed. He called for taking advantage of latest research in the field of agriculture to earn a place for Pakistani products in the international market and competing with other global players. He said the provincial government was striving to provide latest research at the doorsteps of the growers. Referring to the Pak-China Hybrid Wheat Industrialisation Cooperation Agreement, he said it would help develop Pakistan’s agriculture sector. He further said the PML-N government believed in serving masses especially the farming community and it was evident from the fact that it already had announced a flat rate of Rs10.35 per unit for tube wells.
