QUETTA: The Balochistan government breathed a sigh of relief on the peaceful passage of the day of Ashura. Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch along with Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Nasser Khan Janjua and Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti visited control rooms and reviewed the security situation on Tuesday. Muharram processions were held peacefully in Quetta on Tuesday amid a curfew-like situation with the huge deployment of police and paramilitary troops, while Pakistan Army was on standby. The roads and streets leading to procession routes were sealed and an army helicopter continued aerial surveillance. Balochistan CM Dr Abdul Malik Baloch monitored the situation and inquired about the security of the procession every hour.
