Raids: 15 suspects, including ‘TTP’ men, arrested

Explosives and weapons were also seized

As many as 15 suspects, including members of banned outfits, were arrested during various targeted raids in different parts of the metropolis on Wednesday.


Five alleged militants were apprehended during a targeted raid at their stronghold, Gulshan-e-Buner, in Quaidabad. Sources in the police said that the raid was conducted on a tip-off about the presence of the members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

During the raid, five members of the TTP were taken into custody. Explosives and weapons were seized from them. The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.

Separately, the Rangers conducted targeted raids in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Khuda ki Basti and Baloch Colony. A Rangers spokesperson said that nine members of a banned outfit were apprehended during the raids. He further said that the arrested suspects were involved in various cases of terrorism in the city. Weapons were also recovered from their possession. The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.

In another raid, an alleged target killer was arrested by the Zaman Town police. The accused was identified as Aqeel Ahmed, son of Din Muhammad. Police officials said that the he was involved in numerous cases of target killings and extortion. Police officials claim to have seized hand grenades and weapons from him.
