According to an eye witness account, a man and a woman on a motorbike carefully dropped a big shopping bag in the canal and sped off.
“The couple escaped from the spot but I heard crying sounds as the shopping bag moved along with the water,” Muhammad Altaf said, adding, “I jumped in and pulled the bag out, which was carrying two infants.”
Residents immediately informed rescue 1122 officials and the infants were taken to Nishtar Hospital in Multan.
Director Emergency Nishtar Hospital Dr Pervez Haider told The Express Tribune that the infants were born today.
“Both are twin female infants and are out of danger now,” he said.
Police officials have filed a report, while residents staged a protest against the unidentified couple and demanded the police to investigate the incidents.

This couple should be punished severely in order to set an example for the society. They have shown such crulty which should not be spared.
Hats Off to Muhammad Altaf ! Thanks For Saving Two Beautiful and Cute Angels!!
I hope the EU is reading these news. Terrorist attacks, acid attacks, child abuse, extremism, street crime and they want us to abolish death sentence. I hope the govt hangs all the inmates at death row in one day, atleast that will strike some fear into these animals hearts.
Being a mother of beautiful daughter it is very hard for me to read such inhuman act of the couple living in darkness. I strongly condemn with my heart this brutal act.Thank God that the infants are safe.I salute them who put their efforts in saving them!
I wish to understand the psyche of the couple. How can a person, even mentally challenged be so cruel?
Dont have kids if you cant take care of them and don't rely on the 50/50 gamble of boy/ girl
I would like to adopt the infants.
do these people know Birth-control?
Sick people. Send them to me I will adopt them.
This is the height of cruelty and shamelessness. I hope the baby girls find a welcoming home and soon. And I hope they never hear how they came to be rescued. God!
the twins should be handed over to edhi foundation.there are many people who would be willing to adopt them.and ,he parents shud be arrested and put in jail. then people say that edhi is propogating bad korals by having the cradle facility.atleast kds csn be saved that way
Salutes to this hero who saved the infants
This is a havoc to our social values that are getting extinct with each day passing by. If such cruel couples have no courage to admit the outcomes of their temporary joys then why do they make such henious deeds? Shame on those who ever did it and plan to do so in future. Its not an easy escape rather this would clutch your necks one day in a way or other.
That explain it. we are doom as a society. where are the fatwas machines?
