The authorities had barred fishermen from going into the sea as Cyclone Nilofar approached the country's coastline. Now that the cyclone has moved past the country, fishermen were allowed to fish.
Fishermen have reportedly suffered great losses due to the ban as thousands of their boats stood in coastal areas, including Baba Bhit, Manora, Ibrahim Hyderi.
Boats that had travelled into deep sea returned to the jetties of Karachi, Thatta, Badin and Sujawal on October 31 while fishermen in Gwadar, Pasni, Jewani and Lasbela were strictly directed to not go fishing in deep sea on October 27. Those who had already left for fishing were called back immediately, as per the instructions of Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority.
