Unlawful Trade: Man held for illegal kidney transplant

LAHORE: Chuhng police on Saturday arrested a doctor and the owner of a private clinic involved in the illegal transplant of kidneys. Saddar Investigation Superintendent (SP) Muhammad Iqbal said Dr Sanaullah, a former General Hospital registrar, was arrested along with Muhamamd Yasin, owner of Noor Surgical Clinic in Sahiwal. He said they had confessed to transplanting four kidneys so far. The SP said Dr Imran, a former Mayo Hospital anaesthetist, Amjad Hussain, a technician, and seven other people were part of the gang involved in the illegal trade. Iqbal said they had arrested Sanaullah and Yasin on the complaint of Ayesha Saeed who had accused them of robbing her of her kidney. The SP said Sanaullah would buy a kidney for Rs200,000 to Rs400,000 and sell it for over Rs1 million. He said police were looking for other members of the gang.
