KARACHI: A man who was recently convicted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on charges of corruption allegedly killed himself. The court had sentenced him to a rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of Rs73 million. Soon after the verdict was announced on October 29, the man took some sleeping pills on the court premises. He was rushed to Jinnah hospital and was under treatment until he breathed his last on Friday. The man retired from the Pakistan Navy and later joined the ministry of communication, from where he retired in 2007. According to sources, the man has been on bail and was summoned to appear in court on October 29. “He brought some poisonous substance along with him to court and, as soon as the court convicted him, he pulled out the substance from his pocket and ate it,” he said.
