Bracing for Ashura: LWMC finalises arrangements for Muharram

Company washes imambargahs and routes of majalis

Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) officials said on Friday that the company had finalised arrangements regarding the maintenance of cleanliness during Muharram.


They said the initiative had been taken to especially keep areas around the routes of Ashura processions and imambargahs clean. Officials said six camps had been established in Data Ganj Baksh Town and Allama Iqbal Town to facilitate operations and effective coordination. They said the company had also mechanically swept the routes of major processions and mechanically washed imambargahs in Lahore.

Operations Senior Manager Sohail Anwar Malik and Communications Manager Jamil Khawar visited the camps to inspect the arrangements. They also interacted with the people to stress the importance of maintaining cleanliness. The officials distributed waste disposal bags and pamphlets among those participating in majalis. They urged the people to maintain the sanctity of the holy month by keeping the areas clean.  The officials also urged them cooperate with LWMC workers.

Nisar Haveli administrator Khwaja Basharat Hussain praised the company for taking the initiative. He also thanked Managing Director Khalid Majeed for the arrangements.
