Cricket: Afzal top-scores for Lions in final

At the close of play, the Rawalpindi were at 9-0 in 5.1 overs

Kamran Afzal made an impressive 79 runs to give Lahore Lions a 286-run lead on day one of their Inter-Region U19 three-day tournament final against Rawalpindi at the Mirpur Stadium, AJK yesterday.


Lions won the toss and elected to bat, with Afzal striking eight fours and three sixes in his 100-ball 79, while Gohar Hafeez scored 53, hitting nine fours to become the top scorers for the Lions.


Shadab Khan and Muhammad Ismail took two wickets each, giving away 77 and 45 runs respectively.


At the close of play, the Rawalpindi outfit started their innings and were at 9-0 in 5.1 overs.
