Butt has also been ordered to pay a Rs0.1 million fine.
While speaking to reporters, Gullu Butt’s lawyer said they accept the court’s decision but will appeal against it.
“Others responsible for the Model Town incident should be held responsible as well,” he added.
Earlier, Butt, allegedly an active member of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was sent on a 14-day judicial remand on the orders of the magistrate.
Butt was caught smashing cars during the clash between PAT workers and the police outside the Minhajul Quran International Secretariat.
He smashed windscreens and windows of private vehicles with his club, while police officials looked on and the vandalism continued unabated.
On October 27, Butt denied charges of destroying public property and attacking police officials. Watch the video here:

What has happened to the Judicial Tribunal report? Why only Gullu Butt and not the onlooking cops? How many years before he enters the lockup? Only PRs. 1 lakh? Who will compensate the car and motorcycle owners? The arrogance of Gullu Dutt is incomparable when you see the TV and the way he walks with his chamchas. Let me tell you another story of a man who spent 11 years in jail.....
I hope its not another topi drama of PMLN. If he really serves his punishment then a great success for the justice system.
@Irfan Chourbati: Had he been a general, not only would he have been provided with a security escort, he would also have been awarded plots, and his service restored in the name of "court-martial" proceedings, as in the case of NLC bosses.
i might be wrong but I think This was probably done just to appease PAT. An extremely harsh unjust judgement, and gullu has been used as scapegoat and a pawn. Now I think even 1-2 years for vandalism would have been too much. Probably 6 months + compensation would have been enough

The Policemen and their supervisors who watched Gullu destroy property, and supported his acts are just as guilty. They should at least be fired. But hey ... we are talking about Pakistani justice system here. This reminds me of a joke:

Good decision by court and alarming sign for real culprits of model town……..if Gullu Butt is getting 11 year imprisonment for smashing cars than those who are behind model town killings will not get less than life time sentence. Nation is waiting for the day when all culprits of model town will be behind bars and get the deserved punishment.
Over exageration on a civil vandalism Charge. 11 years is not right rather time served and restituion for the damage. This is unfair, sounds like a deal with PAT members to stop the dharna and get some closure for Gullu Qadri.
He should have been sentenced, but I do believe it is a cover to protect the real culprits, Shehbaz Sharif, the Punjab law minister, and the scores of police officers who called gullu butt and allowed him to conduct this vandalism while standing aside. Where is the case against all those? Everyone remembers the threats Khawaja Saad Rafique gave to Dr. Qadri on TV before he entered Pakistan. This was pre-planned.
Gullu Butt was sentenced prison for 11 years because he was not a politician but Shahbaz Sharif even did not let the FIR to get registered against him because he is a politician, CM Punjab, Brother of PM and father of Deputy CM Punjab. Where is the constitution of Pakistan which says "Equal Law for all" and "Equility before law" this is direct violation of Supreme Law of the Land.
@Imran Qadri: yes Our justice system should punish IK and Qadri for TV station stroming , however our justice system should not forgive to Model Town massacres , The SHarif Brothers.
People of Pakistan should not buy these ploys to punish the insignificants and protect the criminal significants. Sorry ploys wont work any more. Shahbaz Sharif should resign as well.
Justice done, but I think that's too harsh, 11 years for breaking windows of vehicles is just too much. he didn't kill anyone. 14 years is the punishment for a murder in Pakistan.
What about political gulu butts who are involved in massacre of innocent people, one day they will have to suffer the humiliation. People are watching.

The PML-N will step in an look after their own........and our justice will get egg on its face. If he actually goes to jail ........ It will be a step in the right direction and worthy of praise.

Well, they had to throw the book at him. After all the evidence captured by various TV channels, there was no way he could have denied what he did. Hope other members of PMLN take heed of what happened to their political brother and avoid model town type incidents in the future.

Where his police companions? why they are not being tried in courts? Justice will only be done when all culprits including police officials and any political entity involved in the model town massacre will be behind bars...
All the police officers present there should also face the same consequences.

This is the best news in years. Now the rest of the Police Force that participated in unlawful mayhem in Model Town should also be brought to justice, including those seniors who gave the order for Police to terrorize inhabitants of the area.

Rs. 1million will go to government exchequer. What about loss of moveable property? Who will pay those whom property was destroyed by Gullu? What about Police squad whom Gullu was leading?
