PM’s engagements: Nawaz meets JCSC, JI delegation

Sources say JI delegation presented their plans, particularly for development of Sindh and Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) General Rashad Mahmood on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. ‘Matters related to national security’ were discussed in the meeting, according to a statement issued by Prime Minister House. Separately, a six-member delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami – led by its Secretary General Liaquat Baloch – also called on the PM to discuss the overall political situation in the country. Minister for Planning and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal and Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique also attended the meeting. Sources said the JI delegation presented their plans, particularly for development of Sindh and Karachi and the prime minister asked Ahsan Iqbal to look into these plans. The JI is planning to contest the upcoming local government elections.
