A meeting of NAB’s executive board was held under the chairmanship of Qamar Zaman Chaudhry. The executive board decided to file corruption references against the accused in the accountability courts.
The board also decided to file a reference against the ex-chairman of Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), Zafar iqbal Gondal and others. In this case the accused are alleged to have made illegal appointments during their tenure and caused a loss of Rs600 million to the national exchequer.
NAB will also file a reference against Mola Bux Awan, ex-acting secretary, Ministry of Housing and Works and Gulab Zameer, Director General Pak PWD. The accused in this case are charged with making illegal appointments of 746 persons in violation of rules and regulations which caused a loss of Rs6.32 million to the national exchequer.
The NAB’s executive board also discussed the alleged corruption by Senator Sehar Kamran regarding misuse of authority and embezzlement of school funds collected from the students in the form of fee at Pakistan International School Jeddah. The board has decided to probe the matter in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis through their Welfare Attaches. Huge embezzlement in school fees has been reported in this case.
It further authorised an inquiry against managing director and management of Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation Limited (PASSCO). In this case the accused are alleged for Illegal recruitment in PASSCO during interim period — May/June 2013.
