CM in London: Politics of sit-ins has failed: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that Pakistan could not afford agitational politics as the nation was at a critical juncture in its history.

He was speaking to several delegations of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in London. Sharif said those who had conspired to divide the nation on Independence Day had become isolated and street politics had completely failed.  He said the sit-ins at Islamabad’s D-Chowk had irreparably harmed the national economy.

Sharif said the setback would be overcome with diligence and determination. He said the people had voted the PML-N into power for five years and the party would live up to their expectations. Sharif said the PML-N had always served the people while some forces were trying to stop the country from prospering and progressing.

He said the government had taken several steps to raise the people’s quality of life. Sharif said Pakistan would be put on the path of progress and prosperity so that it could assert its rightful place in the comity of nations.
