MULTAN: Agriculture experts have advised growers to sow only registered varieties recommended by experts and apply modern practices to get good wheat produce from saline land. In a press release issued by the Punjab agriculture department, the experts said that wheat varieties including Pasban-90 and AARI-2011 are among those that can give good yield from saline land. Saline land needs more quantity of seed for sowing than normal and farmers should sow seed at the rate of 50-60 kilogrammes (kg) per acre on alkaline land. Experts advised growers to complete sowing before mid of November, adding that sowing after it reduces crop production assessment by approximately 15 to 20 kg per acre, per day.
