Power tariff equal to slaughtering the poor: MQM

The MQM Coordination Committee criticises the government for increasing the power tariff by two per cent.

The MQM Coordination Committee on Tuesday criticised the government for increasing the power tariff by two per cent.

The committee said that increasing electricity price before Eid-ul-Azha is tantamount to slaughtering the poor.

It said the government is following an anti-poor policy, which needs to be amended.

The committee further demanded that the government immediately withdraw the notification regarding the increase in the power tariff.

The government had decided to raise electricity prices on October 1, 2010 was to result in a 4 to 26 paisa per unit increase depending upon the category of the consumer.

Aftab Kenneth Wilson | 14 years ago | Reply They must first get the "Kundas" removed from their areas of voters, specially in karachi and Hyderabad. They can also get things checked because they are also in government both in the province and Centre.

I have voted for PML-N but they are the same as PPP what are they doing in punjab ???? next time my vote is for MQM...................

Karim | 14 years ago | Reply Its because MQM loves Pakistan and it does not want to create a political crisis if it pulls out from the government the government would loose majority in th national assembly and would fall and would be a political vacuum in the country further pushing to destruction. So just think before saying and at least one should hail MQM if they raise the voice of the people for the people while others even do not bother to do that !!!!!!!

A MQM Voter | 14 years ago | Reply If MQM is so concerned about the hike in electricity tariff, unprecedented inflation in prices of daily commodities, reformed GST and so many other issues which are hurting a common man they why MQM is still a coalition partner of PPP in the Sindh and Federal Government? The double standard of MQM have created serious concerns among the MQM voters who time and again elect MQM representatives just because they are been nominated by Mr. Altaf Hussain. Mr. Altaf Hussain has addressed these issues in telephonic address to party workers and to the people of Sindh and Punjab but does not want to apart with the PPP government?
