Guinness World Records: Pakistan’s Bodla receives international recognition again

Lahore-based martial artist acknowledged for landing highest number of kicks

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Ahmad Amin Bodla gained recognition from the Guinness World Records on Tuesday for landing the highest number of kicks – 355 – in one minute.

The 20-year-old achieved the feat on March 3 by breaking US martial artist Raul Meza’s record of 335, which was set three years ago. This will be Bodla’s third entry in the Guinness World Records.

“I’m grateful and glad that my efforts are being recognised by the Guinness World Records,” Bodla told The Express Tribune.  “I’m proud because my achievement also means that Pakistan’s name will be there on the list. It’s my aim to break these martial arts records and let the world know that we have talent.”

Bodla said that although it took the Guinness World Records a couple of months and that the process of sending the entry along with footage and judges’ remarks all the way to the UK was exhausting, the eventual recognition made it worth the effort.

“I came back from my university and I checked my e-mail and was delighted too see that they have finally inducted my record. It should be published by next year in the Guinness Book of World Records in the sports category. I’ll also receive a certificate from them in a few days.”

The Lahore-based martial artist first entered the world records’ list in 2012, followed by another entry in 2013 and now once again this year.

Bodla has at least three more world records pending for inclusion; he broke his own record of most kicks in three minutes, hitting the 835 mark. The other two records he has bested were for most punches (325) and most knuckle push-ups (72).
