Towards court: Imran challenges Nawaz to declare all assets

Claims govt collected Rs70b through overbilling

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Monday claimed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not declared his actual assets and he was ready to prove it before any court of law.

“Take me to the courts, Mian sahib,” Imran said while claiming that Prime Minister Nawaz had declared fake asset details to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Interpreting the popular slogan, he said “go Nawaz, go” does not merely refer to Nawaz Sharif, but the entire system of which former president Asif Ali Zardari, Khursheed Shah, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and others were also part. “If someone is having blood pressure issue, raise this slogan and you would be fine,” he added.

Talking about the attack on the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Imran said he condemns the attack but would fight him in the field of politics. He also censured the JUI-F chief while referring to the wikileaks wherein Maulana Fazl was quoted as saying to the then US Ambassador: “Appoint me the prime minister and I would do whatever you want.”

Addressing the sit-in at D-Chowk of the constitution avenue, the PTI chairman focused on economic affairs and paid special attention to the performance of state institutions.

Pakistan Steel Mills which was in profit a few years ago has been shut down, he pointed out. “Who is responsible for such a state of affairs?” he questioned. “You [the people] would be paying the deficit created by the state-run institutions, the likes of PIA and Pakistan Railways.”

The former cricketer said that people are getting poorer while the rulers are getting richer every passing day due to their policies. “The government collected Rs70 billion through overbilling,” he said.
