Dissident lawmaker of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Peshawar, Javed Nasim, on Monday said he will not appeal against the termination of his party membership.
Talking to reporters at the premises of the K-P Assembly while the session was under way, Nasim said he will continue to sit in the provincial legislature as an independent MPA and will not join any other party. He claimed the PTI could not terminate his membership of the assembly as he had neither voted against the party line over the finance bill, nor had he violated party discipline over the no-confidence motion that was earlier withdrawn.
“If someone thinks I should not speak about Peshawar, then it is an injustice,” he said, adding he has had a bitter experience of electoral politics. He regretted that PTI chief Imran Khan also backed the decision of terminating his party membership without giving a thought to Nasim’s 13-year affiliation with the PTI.
Javed Nasim had attended the first two days of the ongoing session wearing a black band around his mouth in protest. His party membership was cancelled a few days ago for launching the ‘Go Khattak Go’ campaign against CM Khattak.
