Tragic End: Woman poisons kids, commits suicide

FAISALABAD: A woman committed suicide after poisoning her three children in Samundri late on Sunday night. According to police, 32-year-old Aasia* mixed poisonous pills in milk and served it to her three children. Later, she drank some of the milk herself. All four were taken to hospital, where Aasia died. The children are receiving treatment. Naveed Haidar, a relative of Aasia, told The Express Tribune that she had married Mehmood, a resident of Lateef Nagar, 15 years ago. “They used to have frequent quarrels. On Sunday night, she gave poisoned milk to 12-year-old daughter Nigaht, 10-year-old son Abdur Rehman and eight-year-old daughter Manahal. When they started vomiting, we took them to the Samundri Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, where Aasia died. The children are in critical condition,” Nadeem said. The Samundri City SHO said that police had sent the body for a post mortem examination.
