Officials confirmed on Monday that the government girls' primary school in the Hakim Khan Keley village in the Akakhel area of Bara was razed to the ground. Militants planted explosive materials in various portions of the school and detonated the explosives with the help of a remote control. All rooms and boundary walls of the school were destroyed.
Further, an official confirmed that resident of the village have abandoned their homes and have become Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but officials believe a banned militant group is involved in this latest act of terror.
The government recently launched Operation Khyber-I against militants – especially those affiliated with the banned group Laskhar-e- Islam headed my Mangal Bagh.

Education is the only way a nation can progress and over half of Pakistan’s population are children who should be in school. It is not surprising that whenever the terrorists get a chance they target a school building so children’s education suffers thus hurting nation building. We are glad that no human lives were lost in this attack. These desperate acts should be dealt with severely. The terrorists in Northern Pakistan are on the run but we know very well that when opportunity arrives they hurt Pakistan anyway they can. A clear signal should go out to the terrorists that they can blow up a school building, but it will be rebuilt and children will go back to school. We stand together against all atrocities anywhere.
Abdul Quddus DET - U.S. Central Command
Naxalites in India blow up schools in tribal areas. Tribals in Pakistan blow up schools, that too for girls. Extremists in South Asia are scared of educated people.
TTP is anti-Education and pro-Ignorace.
EY Mods - please allow factual rebuttal to this absurd dragging in of India in issues that do not concern India in any way.
@Bunnu wala: Bizarre. Who called TTP 'our misguided brothers' and 'stakeholders'? Pakistani leaders like Ch. Nissar and Imran Khan. Who called Baitullah Mehsud a patriot in 2008 - barely a year before he was droned? Hamid Gul - not any serving or retired Indian Raw chief. Who was furious when Hakeemullah Mehsud was droned? Imran Khan and Ch. Nissar, not any Indian politician. In which country were all party resolutions to negotiate with TTP passed in 2012-13 period not once, not twice but 3 times? It was Pakistan not India. In which country was Nizam-e-Adl signed with Fazlullah and people distributed sweets? It was Pakistan not India. Please get out of these conspiracy theories.
It is you who appear to be trolling without any facts or logic - not those how call you out.
@Zeeshan: TTP has openly claimed that it is against Western education. It has also taken responsibility for bombing hundreds of schools as well as Malala for propagating education.
Blowing up girls schools, killing Polio health workers is the work of misguided locals. India is only taking advantage of our ignorance. Let the religious parties come forward and work with the insurgents and explain to them right from wrong.
@Bunnu wala: How could Express Tribune allow comments based on religious hatred? Aren't Hindus Pakistani citizens as well?
There are too many coincidences which points to actions of foreign agents.
@Munir Ahmad: Good to see a paid hindu troll. Always on the scene
@Bunnu wala: Wake up and smell the coffee dear, Ind has better things to do. Look within. The enemy is ALWAYS within.
I fear that mostly insurgents have moved to iraq and syria for fighting. One day they will return. Pakistan Army must clear the area, we can't keep security for 3 million people in FATA ?
@Bunnu Wala, Why don't you try to do to India what India is doing to you. Always blame others for your own short comings.
These are India financed and India supported insurgents. They are illiterates. They can barely read. India also does the planning for them. Since they are illiterate.
