LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukheira on Sunday took notice of the frequent traffic jams on River Ravi Bridge caused by police pickets. He directed Capital City Police Officer Capt (retd) Amin Wains to take effective steps to ensure smooth flow of traffic at the bridge, which is the main entrance to the city. He directed the officer to assign separate lanes to incoming and outgoing vehicles of various kinds. “A special lane should be specified for vehicles signalled to stop by police to ensure that this does not cause traffic jams,” he said. Sukheira said that the traffic congestion posed a security risk. “Therefore, all the hurdles should be removed immediately,” he said.
