KARACHI: Former national captain Shoaib Malik was on Saturday reported for a suspect bowling action by field umpires during the ongoing gold edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

Umpires Qaiser Waheed and Jamil Kamran sent their initial report on Malik’s action to match referee Anwer Khan. A decision is expected to be taken after Malik’s bowling action is reviewed after the match, PCB officials said.

Malik is currently bowling for ZTBL in the third round of fixtures of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy against Karachi Dolphins at National Stadium of Karachi. He claimed five wickets on the opening day, having taken six wickets in the previous round of matches of the current domestic season.

This is not the first time Malik has been reported for having a suspect bowling action. In 2004, he was reported to the International Cricket Council for having a "potentially flawed bowling action". His action was cleared eight months later.
