Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Panthers in trouble against UBL

The Peshawar side was dismissed for just 98 on day one

KARACHI: National Twenty20 champions Peshawar Panthers are in trouble in their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (Gold) match against UBL as they were bundled out for just 98 runs on day one, with Hasan Mahmood claiming 4-35.

In reply, UBL ended the day at 64-1, just 34 runs behind Panthers.

Wapda would also be disappointed at having made just 185 in their first innings, with Multan Tigers 6-0 in reply.

Meanwhile, Lahore Lions were dismissed for 232 in their first innings at the Gaddafi Stadium against SNGPL, as Raza Ali Dar top-scored with 62 and Imran Khalid ended with figures of 4-51.

An incredible 14 wickets fell in the match between Karachi Dolphins and ZTBL, with Dolphins dismissed for 222 and ZTBL 50-4 in reply at stumps.

A couple of matches had to be called off due to rain as no play was possible in Islamabad Leopards v NBP and Rawalpindi Rams v Port Qasim.

KRL are in full control of their match against the Karachi Zebras, leading by 71 runs at 154-3 after having dismissed Zebras for only 83.

Lahore Eagles, meanwhile, ended the first day of their match against PIA at 203-7.

HBL ended the first day at 240-6 against the Faisalabad Wolves, thanks largely to impressive half-centuries by Asad Baig and Fakhar Zaman.

Abbottabad Falcons also impressed with the bat and finished at 183-5 against State Bank with Khalilullah at the crease on an unbeaten 46.

Meanwhile, the Sialkot Stallions will be disappointed at losing two wickets for just eight runs at the close of play after dismissing SSGC for 210.

No play was possible due to rain in the Quetta Bears v PTV match.
