Edhi Foundation robbery

Letter October 24, 2014
When the citizens of a country are rotten, how can we be surprised at the state Pakistan is in?

KARACHI: The recent robbery at the Edhi Foundation head office was a shameful act and is a reflection of the utter despicability humans are capable of. While thievery itself is a highly immoral act, robbing an institution that works solely for the betterment of the people of Pakistan indicates that the perpetrators were entirely bereft of morals. And the icing on the cake was that Mr Abdul Sattar Edhi, a philanthropist and the founder of the Edhi Foundation, was kept hostage while the institution was robbed of the donations of people, despite his age and status.

When the citizens of a country are rotten, how can we be surprised at the state Pakistan is in? I hope and pray for the sake of this country that the culprits are not allowed to go unpunished and that the authorities take deterrent action that can prevent such crimes from happening again, so that people do not fear donating their hard-earned money to charities.
